User-Contributed Transcription very much love to see them all.Charlie does very well - rather a hickory nut fever, but I imagine it will pass away. He has today fastened Mary into the barn. She would get away over the river and we feared she would get quite away. Mr. Waldo advised to tie her up in the barn, so it is done. We have not had frost that was discernible here, though Dr. said he found some ice Monday morning on some of his squashes. Since then the weather has been much warmer.I sat right down to write this evening, and shall mail this tomorrow morning, so that you may get it before you leave Du Quoin. Hattie has Miss Woodbury to stay with her but is so lonesome during the day that she begs for Wilder & Charlie to come stay with her. The will go a little while tomorrow. Jenny's girl is sick and gone home. I am lonesome these evenings. Little May is very good. Talks about "my dear papa."Good night, your loving Nettie
