User-Contributed Transcription for the sake of your children if you care nothing about it for yourselves try to keep up with the times you are so unfavorably situated for cultivating the social feelings - the amenities of life - & learn so little of the great benevolent & religious apperations of the age. That you ought to make the more exertion - visit more see more company get your mind & heart more embued with love & kindness to your fellow creatures __ I think Charles that partly for lack of opportunity & more perhaps by neglect of opportunity you have fail'd of filling the sphere that your native power of Mind requir'd of you you have a strong - an appreciative mind a discrimination & correct judgment - But from timidity & lack of exertion you have kept yourself too much shut up within yourself. But tis not too late, rouse yourself use yourself, tis never too late to mend, to try to grow better - with a mind stay'd on God a filial trust & confidence in the merciful Redeemer. I can speak feelingly on this subject having been so very delinquent myself. I do so want to see the children and all of you I wish we could live near each other the little time I have to live. I feel contented & comfortable but I often think of my good pleasant room at home & should like to be there now and then an evening & see you & Albina come in & sit & tell over the events of the day.25
