User-Contributed Transcription you say you & others are building a house who is your master work man or don't you have any in two or three of your last letters you have not mention'd S Conant. I am very much interested to know all about what kind of a man he is & how he is prospering. What do you read or don't you have time to read much of anything - on the whole are you getting to be a more perfect man for going out there of course you are gaining some knowledge whether it is the most useful knowledge for you is another question. However that may be I trust you are doing some good to yourself & others. Maj. Furber was married last month to a widow lady of St. Paul 45 years old - Mehitable & John they suppose are to be soon - Mr. Sargent is getting better slowly don't sit up much yet - we are all in good health now. Albina says she has felt healthier & stronger than usual this winter - I tell her that the care & culmination that falls up on her in your absence has it's advantages. tell her that the care & culmination that falls gives her fortitude perhaps, she is very chicken headed sometimes & mole hills seem like mountains. The snow hides the fences all up the road - the nursery has been all out of sight for many weeks - How have you made out for clothes for yourself to provide yourself with things & decent & comfortable you ought to have carried more shirts & drawers ought not to get much mending done by Nettie. Suppose she has enough to do. Don't be so anxious to save money as to cheat yourself in any way of a generous living a man is estimated very much by the dress he wears you are very apt to not dress well enough.I shall be lonely more this long spring, write to me often. Ask Isaac & Nettie to likewise - Lucy wants very much & should be there next month which she weans the babe - but tis bad going back & forth so often.
