User-Contributed Transcription what shall I infer from your observation respecting the mothers of eminentmen is it that I must despair of ever having any eminentmen among my sons - or rather having any of my sons eminent mensupposing my expectations were never rais'd very high on that point perhapsI may have them fully realized - I should like to know what you and E thinkabout the propriety of my returning to raise them a little higher yet. Do do all come home it seems as if it would almost kill them to stay thereall the time till August without any relaxation, & you & E need it I know &as to the expense I should rather if I have any of you I should rather lay out 5$ that waythan 10 for medicine - C. has got 2 acres of corn (not hoed yet) grass, corn, garden, and every thing about looks well, is growing beautifully but C is ever somuch behind his business as usual. If you and E cannot possibly come up the 4th with A & L you must both comesoon certainly I can't settle up our matters alone ( I don't know but C would prefer to)but I don't know anything about such matters - our affairs have all beenso knit and braided in together that it will be like pulling eye teeth. If I was not apprehensive that it might if neglected be a source of greatertrouble some future day I should almost want to let it all alone.I should write this over and condense it about 75 per cent it might be better worth receiving.
