User-Contributed Transcription not as handsome as your Old Desk would be if it was mended & new trim'd - However if you know that you shall not move away perhaps you had better take it But Samuel says you will go west - that you can be better off if you can disperse of your property there for half what it is worth to go, to say nothing about the benefit to the children A letter came to S. from his father while he was gone & another since he came back He writes that John has lately made quite a purchase of a share [10th] I believe of a new town just laid out - & with a valuable Mill privelege I dont know as I remember right but I believe he said he could sell it now & make $10,000. Sam'l talks that he shall take Percie with him when he goes in the Spring It makes me feel sad I and I suppose it would be hard for him to leave him & be so far from him - But it seems as if it would be better for P. to stay here a year or two I know they cannot any of them love him or bear with him as we do( I don't know how he is going to get him there for he dirties his pants every day or two)You have family enough, so that you would'nt want him there but it would be better for him to be there with me than to go among strangers
