User-Contributed Transcription I began this several days ago but baby has been very sick so I didn't finish it He took a very bad cold & it settled on his lungs (is teething besides) his breathing was dreadful the Dr. call'd it congestion or lung fever - After much demur & some hard speaches by Hattie because E. did not send for Dr. Payne the child growing worse in spite of Eliabs application of cold water bandages to his neck & all else that we could do E. started off & got Dr. McRuen - He bid us take a thick woolen blanket wring it out of hot water and wrap the child in it - we changed it once & kept him in it 4 hours it soothed & relieved him very soon - He was taken last saturday night 7th is now Saturday 14th pretty well again but quite feeble So nervous & uneasy & gets tir'd so quick that Hattie has a hard time as well as the rest - Hattie has taken the babe all to herself, ever since it was 3 or 4 months old it has not slept with its mother at all H. is so impulsive all hoighty toighty it makes the child so to but she means it all right is very kind and good & E. and Maria must be under life long obligation to her??
