User-Contributed Transcription Mother BangorMay 4 .57Bangor May 4th/57My Dear SonI receiv'd your good letters written when Sam'l was there & here I am yet feeling somewhat disappointed that I couldn't get to Milo before now. The Ice went out about a fortnight earlier than usual & it swept off all the Bridges & Dams on the Piscataquis The Brownville, Alder stream and Boobar brook bridges- we have had a great deal of rain so that the Streams are high & the travelling bad yet- I expect to go there in a few days now_ I shall hardly get well Settled there before the time will come when I should like to go to Elyria if I could have a good chance- There are some inconveniences about living just 4 of five months in a place it takes So much time to get pack'd up to go_ & to get settled again_ indeed the last hardly gets done at all
