User-Contributed Transcription Sister has had so much more care than usual that she has become quite worn & wearied and has I believe fully decided not to continue the school after the close of this year in June. We cannot decide just what we shall do but probably keep house on a smaller scale just our three selves. A quiet pleasant home out of school has been one of my air castles but somehow I have not looked forward to anything with very bright anticipations of late. I feel sometimes very like a child wearied out with running, ready to lie down in the way, powerless to go farther. How much I should love to look in upon you all to-night. Your dear little ones are growing taller and wiser and better every day. I hope you have been kept free from sickness this winter.Your father I was happy to hear was much better in health last summer.Great preparations are making here for a fair for the Sanitary Commission. It is to be held next week and will no doubt bring many people to our midst. Our Village (or City that is to be) is already crowded by soldiers. They are constantly coming & going. When will this strife end? I fear yet that there will be a desperate struggle but I am sure that right & justice will prevail and that our government will be established on a firmer foundation. I hope that party politicians will yield their desires to the good of the whole. I am not a politician neither have I any sympathy with those of our sex called "strong minded" though they may have found only their true vocation. Anna Dickinson is to speak there soon. Have you ever heard her? She was hear last winter and gave us a
