User-Contributed Transcription Sometime this winter shall perhaps stay till April or May The weather has been very mild and pleasant this fall & I have got along quite comfortably with the Old airtight____have been in my room alone a great deal of the time Tis rather profitable for me I think as solitude with me facilitates an acquaintance with self perhaps I might not be quite contented if compell'd to be much alone but I could you know (and Have availed myself of the privelege) have the company of Albina & the noise & fun of the children whenever I chose Charles has been so busy that I have not seen much of him except at Meals his evenings when at home have been taken up in husking Corn &c &c Henry Thomson has return'd from California with poor health William Halman & Ichabod Mitchel have died there__________I like very much to stay at Bangor as many accounts more of my Children are there & it is _______________pleasanter in many respects But I feel that this is my home and where I ought to be there seems a propriety in old people retiring from the world and communing with there own hearts and tho' it may not be universally the case yet as a general thing (there is no disputing it) the company of old people is not acceptable or agreeable to the young in some instances not even to their own___I consider myself among the highly favor'd was ever so undeserving a creature so exeedingly bless'd with the very kindest & best of Children & that they should all ___every one be so good
