User-Contributed Transcription so I hope you will excuse this. I have been very unwell ever since dear Susie died but am more so now. I dont know whether I am rebellious and unreconciled to the will of God, or why it is I mourn so all the time, and want her with me so much. No one knows what we were to each other. I was with her the greater part of the last year of her life, and now she is in my thoughts the last thing at night & first in the morning. My physician says it's thinking of her and living over the last weeks of her life, in my thoughts that is the cause of my illness, but I cant help it. Merrick sent his little Walter, a dashing boy of five years, to stay with me, and take up my mind. He was with me six weeks. I was sorry to spare him then, but "Papa had the first claim." When I commenced this, he was at my side
