User-Contributed Transcription I have been intending to write to find out if I could, why you do not write to us. Lucy is not so well as when Charles was here if she goes to meeting or any where or does any thing hardly she has to lay on the lounge most of the time for two or three days. The rain yesterday has taken the snow about all off indeed there has not been deep snow at any time this winter, the the ice has made good sleighing I dont know when I shall go home whether 2 or 3, or 5 or 6 weeks hence I hope & expect that Isaac & Nettie can make a good long visit at M. as it is not probable that he will go into any Rail road business till next summer or Fall. And he needs the rest - exceedingly. If he should go right in three years more with as much care and responsibility as for 3 years past he would be an old man if alive. To have the care & anxiety of recieving and paying out almost half a Million of money in addition to directing so much work was too much. Nettie's health is a good deal better than when she went from here. Eliab has got a beautiful Air tight Stove with a little oven in it & can take in very long wood I wish I had one like it in my room. The folks are well at the other house - the baby is rather fretful is cutting teeth I suppose. But Hattie - Mallie's sister is as stirring and as earnest or more so than Ann & with both her sisters and her brother there Maria gets along nicely if they were not there she could not get along without a hir'd girl. Mayo is a smart strong little boy but has a very pleasant disposition. He is more forward about talking and one would think him older than Percie.
