Summary Letter of petition, Dec. 8, 1773, to Gov. William Tryon of New York on behalf of the Stockbridge Indians, requesting that they be compensated for their services during the French and Indian War. Woodbridge notes that the Stockbridge Indian troops in service of the King killed and took many enemy captive, that they also lost their lives and were taken into "miserable captivity," and that they had not received what they were entitled to for this service. 
Biographical/Historical Note Teacher to the Stockbridge Indians and great grandson of John Eliot. The first white inhabitant of Stockbridge, Mass., Woodbridge was also a deacon, judge, magistrate, superintendent of Indian affairs, and officer of the Susquehanna Company.
