Summary June 3, 1779, letter from Hartley, to Brig. Gen. Edward Hand, recommending William Huston, an adjutant in his former regiment, and Robert Crownover, for service in Gen. Sullivan's upcoming expedition against the Iroquois in New York. Also references to other regimental affairs, including the trial of a soldier charged with murder. 
Biographical/Historical Note Revolutionary War officer, lawyer, politician. Hartley commanded two regiments, Hartley's Additional Continental Regiment (Jan. 1, 1777-Jan. 13, 1779) and the 11th Pennsylvania Regiment (Jan. 13-Feb. 13, 1779), before resigning to accept a seat in the Pennsylvania Assembly.
