Summary $30.50 bill for expenses incurred transporting government horses to Nashville, as ordered by Andrew Jackson, submitted by Lieut. John Adams to the assistant deputy quartermaster in Nashville. A receipt for reimbursement, signed by John Adams, is included on the same sheet. Andrew Jackson, victorious in the Creek War, had recently been appointed major-general in the U.S. army and was assigned command of the Seventh Military District, which included Tennessee, Louisiana, the Mississippi Territory, and the Creek Nation. At the time the order to transport the horses was issued, Jackson was negotiating a punitive treaty with the Creeks and preparing for an expedition to Florida.
