Summary Petition submitted Aug. 1771 by Donald McIntyre and six other colonists to William Tryon, Governor of New York. In this document, the petitioners request the governor's assistance in resolving land grant disputes near Argyle in Albany County; county name later changed to Washington.

Biographical/Historical Note William Tryon (1729-1788) was transferred from the governorship of North Carolina to New York in 1771. During his tenure, Tryon encountered frontier disturbances caused by conflicting land claims between residents of New York and New Hampshire.
