Gene Fowler

My dear Ben:
Just to ease your likely
concern about me, these are the
facts aout my newest excursion
among the medicos. I am
to have my prostate removed,
root and branch, in ten days.
Thus passes another historic
landmark. Sic transit gloria
urethra.
Tried to interest the T.V.
people in having this operation
done on the "Medic" program,
but they justly feel that a
wide screen is necessary.
Am confident that I shall
come through all right, and
my sole qualm is that another
interruption in the writing of
my loved book may make the
Muse punch-drunk. Apparently
1955 was not my year. Still,
I have had so many fine years
that I would be an ingrate
to complain. Furthermore, I am
one of those fellows who always
makes four the hard way.
