Description The "sum of one thousand six hundred dols." corrected in the text to read "one thousand eight hundred dols." 
Summary Printed form, filled in, May 4, 1836, in which Toyahwonah, a Chickasaw Indian woman, conveys two sections of land in Marshall County, Miss., that she was entitled to under the May 24, 1834, U.S. treaty with the Chickasaw Nation, to Joseph Caruthers for $1,800. Signed with Toyahwonah's mark and witnessed by James Colbert and Erasmus McDowell, the deed is certified by Chickasaw chiefs James Colbert and Henry Love, and by Chickasaw Indian agent, Benjamin Reynolds.  It is examined May 5, 1836 by William Carroll, and recorded June 8, 1836, by Marshall County probate court clerk W.H. Rowland.
