My dear Sir
Your kind letter of May 18th has only just reached me.
The books referred to which you have so kindly sent me have not yet come to hand as they have gone on to Chipewyan & I am only now on my way thither from England. When I receive them, which may not be until next year, I will sign the receipt, & forward it as directed. Thank you very much for your kindness in sending them.
I am sorry to say that I have not with me here a copy of the books you ask for, &, as it is very uncertain when I shall reach my station, you would obtain them much sooner by writing to the British & Foreign Bible Society, London, England, who are the publishers of the Slavi Gospels, & more recently, the New Test. in syllabic characters. Bishop Bompas, however, is the translator. My part was merely writing them out in the characters & carrying them through the press.
The "Lords's Prayer, &c." is for the most part a compilation from the same translator. A friend had it printed for use by Gilbert & Rivingtons
