Biographical/Historical Note A Brooklyn native, Bebe Miller studied dance as a child at the Henry Street Settlement. She graduated from The Ohio State University and danced with Nina Wiener before forming her own company in 1985. Bebe Miller Company  has appeared at MoMing and the Dance Center of Columbia College in Chicago. Miller has created more than 50 works for the company, received four Bessie Awards, and is a Distinguished Professor Emerita in The Ohio State University’s Department of Dance. (2024), Ishmael Houston-Jones, from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a choreographer, improviser, performer, teacher, author, and curator based in New York City. He curated the Parallels series in 1982, 1985, and 2012. In Chicago, he was presented in Chicago's Moveable Beast series, choreographed a piece for Mordine & Company, and performed in Relations with Ralph Lemon and Bebe Miller. Houston-Jones is the recipient of multiple Bessie awards. Houston-Jones received the 2019 Edwin Booth Award from the Doctoral Theatre Students’ Association of City University of New York. (2024), Ralph Lemon is a dancer, choreographer, writer, and visual artist who began his dance training in Minneapolis. He performed with Meredith Monk in New York, before founding his own company in 1985. He received the National Medal of Arts in 2016. In Chicago, his work has been seen at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Dance Center of Columbia College, and the Chicago Art Institute. He currently serves as the Artistic Director of Cross Performance, a company dedicated to the creation of cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary performance and presentation. (2024)
