Biographical/Historical Note Toby Nicholson grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He first studied modern dance at Carnegie Mellon University, and later attended and graduated from Northwestern University’s theater program. He toured in many professional works, including Guys and Dolls and The Music Man. He taught dance and theater at New Trier High School in Winnetka for thirty years. Nicholson was a longtime dancer with Sybil Shearer and a founding trustee of the Morrison-Shearer Foundation, where he continues to serve on the board. (2024)
