Description Published: Portsmouth (England) : Printed for J. Wilkinson, and sold by T. Osbourne and W. Owen, near Temple Bar, London, 1758. 
Summary Poem written by Valentine Nevill, Secretary to Admiral George  Townshend, while on board the British ship Orford during the siege of Fort Louisbourg, July 1758. In this poem Nevill celebrates the British victory over the French and Admiral Boscawen's role in the battle. 
Biographical/Historical Note One of the strongest French bases in North America, Fort Louisbourg, Nova Scotia guarded the entrance to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. During the Seven Years' War, it was captured from the French by a British combined force in July 1758.
