Summary An expanded version of the material on the Popoloca Indians presented by León in a lecture given at the Escuela de Minas on March 15, 1905, including  related illustrations and research materials. León describes the etymology of the name Popoloca, the various dialects spoken by the Popolocas, and outlines on a map the area in which the Popolocas settled.  The sections on Tepeaca, Tecamachalco, Tepexi, Tehuacan, Quecholac, Cozcatlan, and Cuta discuss the history, religion, ceremonies, customs, and government of these important centers of Popoloca culture. There are population statistics from the 1900 census, a description of the physionomy and structure of the Popolocas, with comparative tables of body measurements, and notes on the origens of the Popolocas.  León also analyzes some native documents such as the Codex Borbonicus and the Codex Dresdensis. With the notes are related photographs and reproductions, a bibliography, and an appendix of excerpts from historical and linguistic documents, vocabulary lists, newspaper clippings, and 3 letters to León: two from Joaquín Paredes Colín (February 23 and May 10, 1905) and one from Antonio Peñafiel (March 9, 1905).
