Summary A signed letter, dated August 12, 1894, from Lucien Adam, a French scholar of the Cour d'appel in Rennes, to J.C. Pilling of the Bureau of Ethnology at the Smithsonian Institution. Adam discusses the availability of two of his studies on Indian linguistics with Pilling, who was compiling the Bureau's ongoing Catalogue of linguistic manuscripts.  Adam mentions that his work on the Mosquito language, La langue mosquito: grammaire, vocabulaire, textes, was published by Maisonneuve as part of the Bibliothèque linguistique américaine and that a copy has already been sent to the Smithsonian. His study of the Chiapenec language, La langue chiapanèque, published in Vienna in 1887 by Hoelder, is still available from the publisher. He adds that he is presently engaged in work on South American languages.
