Biographical/Historical Note Hedy Weiss, originally from New York, had been a theater, dance, and music critic for Chicago Sun-Times since 1984. In several instances Weiss's theater reviews were cited as racially biased, coming to a head with her review of the Steppenwolf production “Pass Over” in 2017, which happened to be her last year with the Sun-Times. She continued as a critic for PBS' WTTW “Chicago Tonight” and has authored contributions to several dance and performing arts publications. (2024)
