Biographical/Historical Note Susan Lackritz Kaplan was a student of The Mabel Katherine Pearse Modern Dance Camp and now resides in California., Mary Kay Lackritz Gray is a Chicago native and art historian. In her childhood, Lackritz attended Mabel Katherine Pearse’s Modern Dance Camp in Door County, Wisconsin. After marrying Richard Gray, the two became avid supporters for the arts. In 2013, the University of Chicago opened the Richard and Mary L. Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry as an honor to their contribution to the art community in Chicago.
