Dear Sir:
Your favor. in regard to book-plate rec'd - I should have answered it earlier, but have not been well-and rather overcrowded with work. I enclose a few plates, for your acceptance - The cost would vary, according to design - anywhere from $25- up, as to suggestions. I cant say much, without some little idea - as to Library - how it was formed, or by whom - if you have a seal - a plate might be arranged thus. [sketch of plate] if you wanted a simple one - & it could be elaborated) this is of course drawn small) If you wished to have commemorated the founder his portrait might be put in - in place of seal - If you wished to have me make a rough sketch - after giving me such ideas as occur to you, there would be no charge for the sketch - the only restriction being that it be returned to me. if not ordered engraved - & eng. both on wood & metal- If you are likely to use a great many prints - a wood cut is very much cheaper to print - Very truly yours
