My dear Mary
I was very glad to receive your letter & I want to thank you first of all, for your generous gift to the Sewing School. I think it exceedingly kind and thoughtful of you to remember us. I will try and spend it to the best advantage, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that many poor children have been kept warmer this cold winter, through your kindness. There are now about two hundred children in the school. I am trying this winter to be very particular about their sewing, for I

Julia improves very fast and you I hope are quite well. You must tell me what you are doing this winter, and I will tell you as much Chicago news as I can.
