User-Contributed Transcription Fort Stockton TexasMch 29th 1880My Dear AliceYour letter of the 24th Mch I received upon arrival here yesterday and that of the 26th to-day & possibly I may get another letter from you to-morrow before leaving Stockton.Upon arrival at the Spring I found that Company K 26th Infty was not in condition for the field. the men being in need of Shoes & clothing - So I decided to take "D" Co 10th Cavalry. Captain Keyes was very anxious to go - & begged not to be left behind.
