Summary Catechism and hymns, translated into the Potawatomi language by Baptist missionary Robert Simerwell of the Carey Indian Mission in Niles, Michigan. The catechism, in Potawatomi, is arranged in six sections, with partial English translations interlined in red.  Verses to thirty Christian hymns are given in Potawatomi, with English translations in red ink in parallel columns.  Hymns explain such topics as Creation, God's spiritual light, brotherly love, the Sabbath, the spread of the Gospel, Christ the Saviour, Christ's mission, the omniscience of God, the certainty of death, Communion, and many others.  Also included is a list of the letters of the Potawatomi alphabet, accompanied by brief notes on pronunciation of the language.
