eyeing my soap speculatively. I come out on Sunday & Peter has promised me a large & juicy steak in celebration!
Rose dear, I can't think why you should say all those nice things about me- I only wish I had been able to do something for you when were here or to have seen more of you. (Of course, the week after you left I was up in Town  & had loads of free time- wouldn't that just happen!!). Perhaps you can come over again later in the year- or I can fiddle a trip to N.Y.? I'm so glad you liked my Peter- he thought you were enchanting & madly intelligent & amusing. (Said I should see more of you & maybe just some of it might brush off on me!!) He's working his head off this week but has called me most evenings & I suspect he misses me, though of course he'll never admit it! Do wish you were still over here- we could perhaps have come here together. It's a bit dull on one's own as the other people all seem rather staid- mostly stout, middle-aged parties! Still that's probably all for the best as if I did meet someone I liked I
