Summary June 7, 1901, letter from Newnham to Henry N. Stevens of H. Stevens, Son & Stiles in London, responding to the latter's request for an evaluation of the Cree text "Hymns the Swampies their language" (Jack-River, 1841).  This pamphlet was composed and printed by James Evans, the inventor of the syllabic system of the Cree language who was then superintendent of Methodist missions in the Hudson's Bay Territory, stationed at Norway House, Manitoba. Newnham discusses the work's authorship, translates the title page, and describes its contents.
