Goddard (May 25, 1850), New York journalist and anthologist Rufus Wilmot Griswold (Feb. 23, 1855), and Maine physician Augustus Choate Hamlin (Mar. 27, 1856), concerning a recommendation, progress on and Congressional support for Schoolcraft's multi-volume work on U.S. Indian tribes, Hamlin's investigation of Scandinavian and Indian inscriptions for the work, and the republication of an 1821 poem by Schoolcraft.
