Summary Correspondence, dated June 2-28, 1866, between Anastasio de Hoyos y Zendegui, fiscal of the Audiencia, and president of the Comisión Permanente de Censura, and members of the commission, concerning activities of the commission. In his letter of June 2, 1866, Manuel Santayana, secretary of the commission, informs Hoyos that nearly all of the books, files, and other papers belonging to the commission were lost in a fire on June 1.  Santayana's letter of June 9 requests that Hoyos accept his resignation as secretary of the commission.  There is also a letter of June 28, 1866 to Hoyos from Narciso Fuentes, discussing censorship of El Diario de Manila.  Also included are two documents in Hoyos' handwriting: one is a draft of a letter, possibly to the governor, informing him of Santayana's resignation; the other is a draft explaining Hoyos' decision to censor material published in El Diario, prohibiting the publication of telegraphic messages, inflammatory and inaccurate stories, as well as articles critical of the Administration.
