Summary An office book kept by Daniel Pulteney, a commissioner of the Council of Trade and Plantations, 1717-1721, containing letters, instructions, reports, queries, commissions, and other documents pertaining to the administration of British colonies in the Caribbean, Nova Scotia, and New York. Contains both contemporary and supporting historical documentation concerning matters considered by the commissioners, including British and French claims to the islands of St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Dominico, etc (1719); the fortification of the New York frontier and relations with Five Nations Indians (1700); the 1706 French invasion of Nevis (1719); a dispute with the French over the fisheries at Canço, Nova Scotia (1720); and the boundaries between French and British possessions in North America (1719).  Also 1722 instructions from King George (with seal and signature) to Daniel Pulteney, and a 1714 ms. journal by Cyprian Southack concerning his voyage from Boston to the "town of Quebeck."
