User-Contributed Transcription missed the trail and lost ourway -- Finding ourselves in adeep ravine or hollow we haltedfor the purpose of making an examinationof the country on our rightand left, with the hope of findingthe dividing ridge between theKansas & Osage waters, on whichour route lay -- Just as thehindmost waggon came up andstopped, two of the men who hadborne off to the right some timebefore came up in great hastewith the cry of Indians! Indians!The alarm was so sudden thatit produced some little confusion
