User-Contributed Transcription Chicago December 6, 1974 Dear Jack I've had a strange, transitional fall. Decided to go to the country all the way and went. Spent October on my uncle's farm near Albert Lea, Minnesota. Harvey time for acres, horizons of rolling fields. These mammoth combines with little cabs way up thake care of the field corn and the soybeams. My one uncle got 28 bushels per acre on his soy banes comparied to 42 last year. I really love sothern Minnesota + t was fun to be there. I worked as a waitress in this local cafe and felt at one with all the local Scandinavians, if not the noisy little Greeks who own and run the place. You drive out under a stary country sky at 5:30 a.m. and are really supposed to smile a real lot at all the regulars once you make the coffee. (Told one of the men I saw the Northern lights and he sort of leaned over the counter a little more + took a big drive of his coffee) So I returned to Chicago + got a job in
