Road, Shepherds Bush, London W.12 England21st October, 1964Dear Mr. Conroy,   Many thanks for sending us a copy of your novel and for the book you sent to Lynne.  I think she must have told everyone in the vicinity that Mr. Conroy sent her a book from America.   I  have just finished reading "the Disinherited" and thoroughly enjoyed it, but how depressed and guilty it made me feel.  I suppose the times and the hardships of those times, seem twice as bad to a person like myself, who has never experienced hunger, or had no shoes on their feet.  The guilty feeling is caused when I think how easy life has been for me.  Although I have never been spoilt with fancy toys, and anything I just happened to want (and sometimes as a child it was hard to understand just why I couldn't have everything I saw) I can honestly say that life has been
