CENTRAL SHOE COMPANYMANUFACTURERS OF SOLID LEATHERGOLD STANDARD FOOTWEAR ST. LOUIS, MO.SAM'L HANDLERROOM 222 HOTEL HENRYPITTSBURGH, PA.Centre College, Danville, Ky3/6/47Dear Conroy:What with Dante-Da Vinci- Debussy, a populous Humanities course which is an introduction to everything except possible card tricks, on the one hand, and the Swan of Shropshire on the other [this weekend, with gunwales flying and [gonfalcons?] loaded, & and my Avon-acolytes, having chartered a bus, travel to Louisville to hear Evans speak-the-speech], & have memory-blocks that shelter me from the vulgar jocosities of the Middle West-But I am sure Meine has deluged you with, etc.For Raymond Weeks: "Arkansas" has been unclear unto saturation; the choice would seem between "The Fat Women of Boone" and "The Bucking Palfrey." Their Midland date would be around '22; Col. V. Piess published a collected vol., as probably you wot. This is a must: Howard Mumford Jones, "Professor Griglesby's Experiment." *I must guess wildly at the Midland date: 1916-1919/Unless memory much betrays me, the immortal J. Jordan Coogles was a businessman of Kansas City. Not quite sure of title; this close enough for identification
