TO THE DEAD POETS
Marlowe knifed in a dining brawl,
Villan who fled from a gallows trek;
Wanton and Wastrel, each and all -
How can I wear love soberly.?
Shakespeare stealing the guarded gain,
Flying to London Town with Anne.
And the magic Coleridge stenk? insane
Oh fix your love on some honest man!
Lovelace dead by his own neat hand,
Burns besotted, and Donne gone mad,
And each, yet each of the shining? band
Dreaming the dreams of Gallahad.
Byron gone on his reckless way,
Seeger murdered, with Brooke beside
Swinburne wending his drunken way
Shelley drowned in a foreign tide
