Dear Miss Hawkins
Thanks for your well-worded message. Mr Lawson's bequest is all the more appreciated by me because it was unsolicited & unexpected - a gift of his own free-will in token of his own appreciation of what the Commons had been & done & what it should & would continue to be & do.
It universely relieves me of solicitude for its future. With the Reddington bequest our invested funds will amount to nearly $500,000, with a prospect of other bequests.
This warrants my urgency of the need to raise the salaries of the permanent staff so as to assure the continuity of experienced heads of departments &
