Dear Jack-
Thanks for your letter.
That you could write it now demonstrates
a sensitivity and [?]ority that is rare.
Finch & Wally told me
that you displayed great strength and
courage at Moberly. They both admire
you very much.
I was really shattered
about Tom. He was trying so hard
to come out of a miserable situation that
he was only partly responsible for developing.
I thought that his effort would carry him
thru. He was a kind[?] Gay[?]. I've been
nearly overwhelmed on occasion and can
appreciate the spot he was on.
Construction work here
has picked up. The golden days are over
it is all tough, hard labor now. I may
be employed by the new race track that
will open here July 27. If so, I'll be out
of the hole and looking at the sun
with a grin in about a month.
I'll be up some time
soon. Give my best to Gladys.
Yrs,
Bud
