User-Contributed Transcription 2.at the time our third child was due, we moved here to Columbia and my husband began teaching at the University here.   I found it much easier to sustain the magazine in N.Y. where so many poets were interested in it and money was easier to raise.  Columbia  was a real let down.  I have never really been able to establish my own identity or believability here.   I have had to work much harder to stimulate submissions and subscriptions.  Whereas in N.Y. things were much easier.  I was always meeting poets and editors and the whole whirl was far more encouraging.   I don't know if you know a Max Baird who used to live here in Columbia.  Max worked for the U of Mo. Press for awhile.   Well I was about to give up on O.P. altogether for financial reasons, having applied for and been turned down on many a grant application.   Max put up the money for two issues and bought all of my stationary and helped me to find subscribers, etc.  Then Max had some severe personal problems and had to leave Columbia.  I was able to raise quite a lot of money by doing some free lance editing which suddenly fell my way, and I put out a double issue and another single issue.   This summer I was feeling very frustrated with the financial problems again.  I had applied for and been refused a grant
