User-Contributed Transcription Marques del Valle HotelOaxaca January 1 1967Dear Jack:Best wishes for the new year, amigo! As you see I am in Oaxaca, here for a few days rest. I had hoped to see The Ames. They are in Spain Madrid, I believe. My Elizabeth & Steven gave me a plane ticket here for Christmas. A wonderful gift. Work has been strenuous at The University of California & I am happy to be here. The jacaranda trees are starting to bloom so it is spring in Oaxaca. Spring is the best of all times to me. Spring in January is the proper date: all things beginning afresh. I have visited mitta & found the ruins disappointing. I had some fun, however, buying some old things: I came prepared & traded off three jackknives for various items: a seal, a clay head, a clay tiger. My son will value them. I hope Monte Alban is worth while. I plan to go there tomorrow I will be visiting haciendas & sketching them. Surely wish you could be here. Hope Moberly life is satisfying to you, Jack all my best for a happy 1968Paul
