Dear Mr Conroy,
I returned from holiday last week to find your book waiting for me.
What a very nice gift and how kind of you to send it. I had heard of your book but never read it, and I have begun reading it with great pleasure. I am writing to Arna Bontemps today. He is a very nice man and a good friend of my husband's.
I have never been to the United States, and I hope to visit for a holiday next year. Perhaps when I come for a longer visit we may meet. I hope so.
