Summary Petition for nobility status first presented to the Audiencia court in Granada--with Gaspar Navarrete serving as state's attorney--on April 28, 1553 by Juan Perez Barahona, resident of Archidona, and notary scribe for the court. In the customary manner, various witnesses are summoned to testify on behalf of Barahona, including Beatriz de Miranda, Catalina de Garay, María López de Cabalos, Rodrigo de Guadiana, Martín Alonso de Burgos, Fernando de Olivares, Iñigo de Lizola, Francisco Gutiérrez de Mazuelas, Luis Manrique de Lara, Pero Díaz de Espinosa, Diego Mexía, Rodrigo de Rojas, Pedro Sánchez de Verdec, Fernán González de Angulo, and others.  Final approval of Barahona's petition is dated Dec. 23, 1561, and signed by Licenciados Jara, Mujaraz, and de Puebla; additional signatures by government officials from the city of Granada, the Audiencia of Granada, and the town of Archidona, are dated July 15, Sept. 15, and Sept. 27, 1562, respectively.
