Description Photograph of Martha Emmeline Harris, Norman Wait Harris's sister. She is identified here as "Aunt Mattie." She was born on November 13, 1853, in Becket, Massachusetts. Between 1882 and 1885, she served as a preceptress at the Connecticut Literary Institute in Suffield. Between 1886 and 1892, she held the same position at the Coburn Classical Institute in Waterville, Maine. In later years she lived with her brother, Dr. Dwight James Harris, in Evanston, Illinois. She died there on July 10, 1936.
