Description
If 2-year-old John looks grumpy in these snapshots, taken in the summer of 1916, it's probably because the hot and heavy wool used to fashion his Scottish attire was better suited to the shores of Loch Lomond than Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Pearl captioned the photo of John posing with Capt. Douglas of the British Army at Wadsworth Hall, "Johnnie Bartlett donning the kilts."
