User-Contributed Transcription bitter streams - its exercise will be unbelief - distaste of God, & all t. pure precepts of t. law & gospel. This heart will not habitually send forth such exercises, & then for a little while, send forth holy exercises, & then back again to sinful ones - no, the habitual exercises of t heart will certainly tell what t heart is, whether it be a bitter fountain or sweet. The same thing is also shown in t cases of t fig tree, & vine. The fig tree will not bear olive berries, nor a vine fig - each tree will produce fruit suitable to its own nature. Therefore says t apostle who is a wise man among you, & endowed with knowledge - let him show, out of a good conversation his work - with meekness of wisdom.
