User-Contributed Transcription Indeed the world in general had everbeen in this dark, benighted state,compared with the light of the gospel& its glorious priveleges- But nowwhen a few began to experience theblessings of light the darkness whichstill remained was the more stricking& affecting to them- But tocomplete the apostle's idea of the night in which in connection with other things his brethren were it is likelyhe meant to consider theirbeing crossed out in a state of imperfection& sin, as a time of nighthis words preceeding strongly importthis- Says he knowing the timethat now it is high time to awakeout of sleep: for now is our salvationnearer than when we believed & then says the night isfar spent- the night here seemsto allude to the sleep of ignorance & dulness in which they wereat present.& needed to be awakened outof- We are therefore to considerthe night in which the brethren
