User-Contributed Transcription In order to become destiny rushed in the literary worldgreat exertion of mind is required. Men that have becomedistinquished in the world have not become so without greatstudy: they have not been at ease and expected knowledgeto come into their heads. They have been ambitious to learnevery thing they can, and have not given up any thingwithout understanding the reason for it. And ifwe wish to become of use in the world we must improve all our time to the best account in studying out waysin which we can do the most good. And whenwe undertake any thing we must go thoroughly throughit, and understand all about it before we give itup. We must not be contented with being at thefoot of our class, for the horse that belongs back hasthe most to draw and so it is with us, if we once getbehind our class it will be hard to get up to it again. But we must not be contented with learning studyinggreek and hebrew or learning others thoughts but wemust learn to think for himself.Robert Everett
